Yeah, I've got both struts and mounts. Next, I'm getting bump stops as I realized I only have about half of one total between my two fronts struts, and that isn't cool.

Literally nothing came with the struts. It's a strut in a cardboard box.

Edit: nope not true, I think the top nut came with it.

Oh they're big spenders sending the nut. If you had ordered Bilsteins (Germans are superior! lol) they come with extra hardware, new bump stops, the works, it's really nice, especially if the hardware you already have isn't screwed up, then you have spares for when you do screw up.

Yeah, that would have been ideal. If there's any way I could swing Bilsteins, I would have. Trust me. Problem is, they are almost $200 more per strut, and I couldn't really even afford the $75 each I paid for mine.

No i understand, trust me. I got lucky that I don't have McPherson struts and just normal struts which only cost me $100 each, and the springs were only $250. It was the bushings that were expensive at over $750 (they're KMAC polyurethane eccentric control arm bushings) but I haven't installed them yet because I need a special Mercedes spring compressor and have to remove the lower A arms up front then use a shop press to get them out.

Yeah no kidding, but it was the only real option I had, at least for the front control arms. For the rear I could have gotten cheaper camber arms, but the bushings offered more adjustment, and easier adjustment at that. And the rear came with polyurethane toe bushing which offer more adjustment. And it'll be nice to replace the old rubber bushing with polyurethane.

Well part of the problem is that because I have a Merc the adjustments suck. In the front you have to buy new camber/caster bolts if you have to adjust anything, but they only offer .3 degrees of adjustment in either direction. That amount of adjustment is useless. In the rear you have no ability to adjust for camber from the factory, and the aftermarket for the W202 sucks ass.
I've never done an alignment on a BMW but I'm sure there's a hell of a lot more options for adjustment than my car, so consider yourself lucky.

Alignments are not actually that hard, if you're intelligent that is. The new machines practically do it for you but a good alignment tech doesn't rely on the machine (because the machine doesn't tell the whole story.) The machine could be showing you readings in the "green," but there could still be a pull, and it takes a good alignment tech to figure it out. Also, if you're good you can ignore the specs and create your own angles to create the desired effect.

Good alignment techs are kind of hard to come by, especially at quick places like PepBoys and similar. Dealership techs usually don't put much thought into it either. My former boss at the smog shop showed me his alignment that the dealership did and asked me what the problem would be on the truck, I immediately knew it would pull to the right, even though the readings were in the "green." We then proceeded to laugh at how stupid they were lol. It took my boss several tries to get them to fix the damn pull; he had to take the service writer on a drive to get him to admit it was pulling.
